First Class

First Class is found on international long-haul routes. Not all airlines offer first class cabins e.g., Virgin Atlantic. This class of service offers more comfort and amenities than Business Class, which usually include:  

• + 10-30” (25-76 cm) of extra legroom vs business class 
• + 1-2” (3-5 cm) of extra seat width vs business class 
• More degree of recline vs business class 
• Flat bed or suite 
• Electric seat controls 
• Larger TV screens 
• Laptop power points 
• More privacy – smaller cabin 
• Increased cabin staff to passenger ratio 
• Premium food and wine 
• Amenity kits  
• Lounge Access – sometimes exclusive to First Class 
• Priority boarding and disembarkation 

While most airlines offer similar service, entertainment, and amenities in First Class, the seats themselves can vary widely: 

Recliner Seats: 

These seats don't recline as far as the Lie-flat or Flat Bed Seats, but they're still very roomy and comfortable.  

Angle Lie-Flat Seats: 

Despite being advertised by many airlines as having 180 degrees of recline, these seats still have a slight angle when fully reclined. Although the fully reclined position of these seats is ideal for relaxing and working, many passengers find that they are not comfortable for sleeping. 

Flat Bed Seats: 

When fully reclined, these seats become completely flat, like a bed. The seats' dual functionality as beds and chairs has earned them consistent praise. Flat beds can be found on most transatlantic and transoceanic flights.  

Suites: 

These seats provide maximum privacy and comfort. Each suite is essentially a mini-cabin complete with a fully-flat bed, work station, and television.
